New Sugar, Lottery Taxes to Net EUR 31M per Year
LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (January 31, 2013) -- The Finance Ministry has unveiled bills introducing taxes on sugary drinks and lottery tickets that are expected to net about EUR 31m per year as the government seeks additional sources of financing to plug the budget deficit

Oklahoma Lottery Officials Get Little Backing For Proposal
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (January 31, 2013) -- Oklahoma lottery officials would like to eliminate or reduce the requirement that 35 percent of profits go to education. Lowering the profit margin would allow the lottery to increase prizes, which would generate more sales and increase money going to education, they say. According to local new publication a repeated request by Oklahoma Lottery officials to change a state law that requires 35 percent of lottery earnings go to education didn't get much support Tuesday from a legislative panel.

Supreme Court Injunction to Be Filed by Web Shops
NASSAU, Bahamas (January 30, 2013) -- A Supreme Court injunction will be filed this morning by attorney Wayne Munroe to block any move by the government from interfering with the operations of Island Games, Island Luck, Asue Draw, Whatfall.com and FML after Prime Minister Perry Christie ordered all webshop gaming operations closed last night with immediate effect.
Mr Munroe said that despite the outcome of the gambling referendum, webshop gaming in the Bahamas is not illegal. He highlighted that the questions used in the referendum spoke specifically to regulation and taxation and not legalisation.

Lawsuits By Gamblers Unlikely To Succeed
Operators don't have 'duty of care' ,
BC, Canada (January 30, 2013) -- Problem gamblers suing for compensation under self-exclusionary rules in B.C. will not be comforted from court decisions elsewhere.
According to an article published in The Province, that's essentially what a gaming industry conference sponsored by the B.C. Lottery Corp. was told on Tuesday at Vancouver Convention Centre East. "In one case, the court found that the gambler caused his own misfortune," said Vancouver lawyer Michael Stephens, whose work includes gambling-related matters. "In another case, the court found that people were responsible for excluding themselves," he said.

House Group Passes Lotto Bill Legislation would let Wyoming enter into Powerball games
CHEYENNE, Wyoming (January 30, 2013) -- State residents are one step closer to winning a multi-million-dollar jackpot n or at least having the chance to do so n without driving out of the state.
News reports that lawmakers advanced a bill Tuesday that would bring a lottery to Wyoming. This would most likely come in the form a multi-state game, such as Powerball.
The House Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions Committee voted 6-3 to recommend approval of the bill and send it to the full House. Rep. Dave Zwonitzer, R-Cheyenne, who sponsored the bill, argued that the state is losing significant amounts of revenue when Wyomingites travel across the border to buy lottery tickets n and other goods and services while they are at it n in the surrounding states where lotteries are legal.

Venetian Macau Sues Duo for Gaming Debts
MACAU, SAR (January 25, 2013) - The Venetian Macau Ltd, a subsidiary of gaming operator Sands China Ltd, is suing two mainlanders in Hong Kong over more than HK$30 million (US$3.9 million) in gaming debts.
