Gaming Group Revises Code Of Conduct For Web Ads
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (January 22, 2013) -- The gambling industry's main lobbying group is asking casinos to be mindful of the way they advertise online. The American Gaming Association issued a revised code of conduct Tuesday that expands the responsible advertising section to include social media and Internet promotions. CEO Frank Fahrenkopf says that the 10-year-old ethics code needs to adapt along with the industry.
The update acknowledges that casinos now use email and online communication to market to gamblers. Among other things, the code demands that casinos refrain from advertising to children and from appearing to guarantee success. It also states that advertisements should include a toll-free help line and stick to accepted standards of good taste.
