Belgian MEP Alludes to Rock as Tax Haven and Unfair Competition
GIBRALTAR, (April 30, 2013) -- A Belgian socialist MEP has asked the European Commission whether it will take any steps in respect of Gibraltar-based gaming companies as part of wider EU measures to combat tax evasion and tax havens. The news service writes that Marc Tarabella, a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, tabled a set of questions on this issue in the European Parliament. The questions were couched in unflattering terms, referring to Gibraltar as a tax haven and alleging that the Rock was engaged in unfair competition that was harming other EU members.
